For Carrie Houston, Driftwood Diner is more than a business, it’s a return to where it all began. At 13 years old, she worked her very first job in this building when it was known as Ye Olde Steak House. More than fifty years later, life has come full circle as Carrie now owns and operates Driftwood Diner in the same space where her career started.
Carrie doesn’t have formal kitchen training — and to be honest, she doesn’t need it. She’s been cooking the way country folks do all her life, and that’s exactly what makes the food at Driftwood so special. Carrie prepares every meal herself, making sure each plate carries the same care and flavor that keeps guests coming back.

Since the day Driftwood Diner opened its doors, Zach England, Carrie’s nephew, has been part of the team. He leads the front of the house with a focus on hospitality and makes sure every guest feels welcome from the moment they walk in.
Zach often says, “It’s easy to do this job when you love people.” Beyond the dining room, Zach also handles Driftwood’s marketing, helping share the diner’s story with the community.
